e-Apostille services

Fast, secure, and fully digital apostille legalisation for eligible UK documents.

What is an e-Apostille and why you need it

An e-Apostille is an electronic apostille certificate that legalises digitally signed UK documents for international use under the Hague Convention. Unlike a traditional apostille on paper, the e-Apostille is fully digital and delivered as a secure PDF.

  • Fully digital – no need to post originals.
  • Secure and verifiable – tampering alerts ensure integrity.
  • Recognised in many countries that accept Hague apostilles.

How our e-Apostille service works

Optional note: Not all document types are eligible – some may still require a traditional paper apostille.

Documents eligible for e-Apostille

e-Apostille can only be issued for digitally signed documents. The document must have a recognised Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) or in some cases an Advanced Electronic Signature (AES) from a UK solicitor.

Examples of eligible documents:

  • Personal & business PDF documents

    Personal & business PDF documents

Digitally issued personal or business documents provided in PDF format and signed with an approved electronic signature.

  • Company & corporate documents

    Company & corporate documents

Electronic company certificates, incorporation documents, resolutions, and other corporate records issued or signed digitally.

  • Academic & professional certificates

    Academic & professional certificates

Certain academic qualifications, professional certificates, or training documents issued electronically and digitally signed.

Examples of non-eligible documents (paper Apostille required)

Some UK documents cannot be legalised electronically and require a traditional paper Apostille instead.

This applies to documents issued only in physical format or without an approved digital signature recognised by the FCDO.

Examples include:

  • Birth, marriage, and death certificates (GRO)
  • ACRO police certificates
  • Certain DBS and fingerprint documents

If your document is not eligible for an e-Apostille, we will advise you on the correct paper Apostille or legalisation process. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering and we will check eligibility for you.
